Borusan Takes Its “Eşittir Platform” One Step Further with a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Approach

Borusan has taken its commitment to inclusivity and diversity a step further by embedding these values as an integral part of its corporate culture. Building on the experience gained through its long-standing gender equality initiative “Borusan Eşittir”, the Group has integrated this foundation into all talent management and communication processes under the new framework of Borusan Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI / ÇEK).

Through this transformation, Borusan has developed several key resources—the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy Guide, DEI in Recruitment, DEI in Communication, and Parent & Family Guides—to institutionalize fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity as shared standards across all Group companies.

For more than a decade, Borusan has led corporate efforts in gender equality under the “Borusan Eşittir” platform. With its new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ÇEK) perspective, Borusan deepens this commitment—extending its experience from the Eşittir initiative into every process from recruitment and leadership development to performance management and internal communication.

As part of this effort, Borusan Holding has prepared the Group Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy Guide, the DEI in Recruitment, and the DEI in Communication guides, while also updating the Parent and Family Guide from a DEI perspective. These steps aim to strengthen a corporate ecosystem grounded in justice, transparency, and equal opportunity, while reinforcing a zero-tolerance policy against conscious and unconscious bias across the organization.

An Inclusive, Equitable, and Safe Workplace for All

Developed under Borusan Holding’s value model, Borusan ÇEK was designed to strengthen the company’s culture through a participatory approach. The initiative was shaped under the BorusanX corporate culture transformation project, in collaboration with the Borusan Eşittir Committee, and reflects the organization’s diverse, multi-voiced structure. All guidebooks were created through a process of co-creation, incorporating ideas and feedback from Borusan employees.

The Borusan ÇEK framework—publicly shared as an open resource—is built on a sustainable model that includes all organizational processes, employees, and stakeholders. It supports all HR processes as well as employee well-being and work-life balance through a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion lens.

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy Document, designed to strengthen Borusan’s “We Awareness” principle and promote long-term collective benefit, stands out for its concrete, effective, and accessible criteria:

  • Borusan embraces diversity in gender, religion, language, birthplace, ethnicity, age, education, and background—offering equal opportunities to individuals with different lifestyles, experiences, talents, and family structures. The company continuously improves its recruitment processes to attract innovative voices from a broad talent pool.
  • It provides equal support in learning and development, ensuring access to tools and resources that foster personal and professional growth.
  • It promotes equal opportunities in reskilling and upskilling efforts aligned with the competencies of the future.

With its long-term vision to become a company that endures 200 years and beyond, Borusan positions diversity, equity, and inclusion as fundamental components of its corporate culture, employee relations, stakeholder engagement, and long-term sustainability. The Group aims to build a workplace where every individual feels valued, safe, and free, and where justice, accessibility, and sustainability coexist.

Nursel Ölmez Ateş, Borusan Holding’s Group President of People, Communication, and Sustainability, stated:

“Our motivation behind implementing Borusan Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ÇEK) is to ensure a truly inclusive workplace where every voice is equally valued and every talent can thrive freely. This step represents the tangible expression of our vision to make DEI not just a policy, but a central part of how we work. As Borusan Group, we are building sustainable success for the future by integrating justice, transparency, and equal opportunity into our corporate culture.”
