A Memorial - Fountain for Gemlik in Memory Of Asım Kocabıyık

Borusan has been investing in Gemlik for a long time. This time its contribution to Gemlik is a contemporary artwork, memorial-fountain. The memorial-fountain constructed in memory of Asım Kocabıyık was placed on the boardwalk of Gemlik with an opening ceremony on April 24. Sculptor Eşber Karayalçın is the creator of the sensor equipped fountain art piece with dimensions of 3m x 2m.

Much talked about its continuing support towards education, art and culture, Borusan after many years of investing in the Gemlik District of Bursa, is now contributing a specially designed contemporary artwork, memorial - fountain. This memorial - fountain that is placed on the boardwalk of Gemlik is also an important contemporary artwork. It is constructed from the steel supplies manufactured by Borusan and presented through the perspective of the sculptor Eşber Karayalçın.

Constructed in memory of Borusan's Founder and Honorary Chairman the late Asım Kocabıyık, the opening ceremony of the fountain was held on April 24 with the participation of Kocabıyık family, Gemlik Municipality Deputy Mayor Refik Yılmaz, Borusan Holding Vice Chairman Bülent Demircioğlu, other Borusan senior managers, and Gemlik residents.

Demircioğlu reminded that Asım Kocabıyık always made an effort to pay his debt to his country and mentioned that "During his lifetime Asım Kocabıyık made contributions to education, culture, and arts. He was a pioneer in many such initiatives. Gemlik has always been special for Borusan and we are happy to present this contemporary artwork memorial - fountain to the residents in a functional way that suits Asım Kocabıyık."

The sensor equipped fountain, which have dimensions of three meters by two meters, will not only help to beautify the Gemlik boardwalk and always provide the residents with a clean water source but also introduce contemporary art to the streets of the district.
